Welcome to The Rancho. We live on small farm with a whole lot of fun in Western North Carolina. We have dogs, chickens and goats. And who knows what else is in the works!
Our dairy goat breeds include Alpine, Oberhasli and Nigerian Dwarf as well as Miniature Dairy Goats including Miniature Alpines and Miniature Oberhasli.
We are so excited this year to continue expanding the pasture and possibly add a horse or two! Planning for the 2015 kidding season is in progress. All breedings have already taken place and first kids are expected mid January.
While we are not currently breeding Rough Coated Dutch Shepherds, we still have our two and participate occasionally in rescue efforts with the North American Dutch Shepherd Rescue by fostering on occasion. We would love to introduce you to the breed and help answer any questions you might have.
Ranchocabra breeding season aproaches!
All but one doe is bred! That makes 12 to kid in the spring. We are debating on holding Stormy over until next year and showing her as a dry yearling in the summer. Hmm. what to do, what to do . . . .
One puppy left!
We have one male puppy left from the litter born in June. His name is Copper. He is a smart, creative puppy with a strong desire to please. If you are interested in hearing more about this puppy, please contact us.
The dog side of the Rancho is called Ranchodutchie. The Dutch Shepherd is a rare breed and we are blessed to have two Rough Coated Dutchies as part of our family.
The dairy goat side of the Rancho is called Ranchocabra. We raise Oberhasli, Alpine and Nigerian Dwarfs. We are learning fun and tasty ways to use the goat's milk including ice cream, cheeses and caramel. What fun!
