Welcome to The Rancho. We live on small farm with a whole lot of fun in Western North Carolina. We have dogs, chickens and goats. And who knows what else is in the works!
Our dairy goat breeds include Alpine, Oberhasli and Nigerian Dwarf as well as Miniature Dairy Goats including Miniature Alpines and Miniature Oberhasli.
We are so excited this year to continue expanding the pasture and possibly add a horse or two! Planning for the 2016 kidding season is in progress. All breedings should take place between October and December this year for March and April kids, with a few late breedings in May. Of course we will see if the goats have other ideas!
While we are not currently breeding Rough Coated Dutch Shepherds, we still have our two, belong to the American Dutch Shepherd Association (ADSA) and participate occasionally in rescue efforts with the North American Dutch Shepherd Rescue by fostering on occasion. We would love to introduce you to the breed and help answer any questions you might have.
Ranchocabra breeding season aproaches!
Breeding season is well under way. With only a few does left to breed, most of the does will be due mid March through the end of April. See the goat section for more information on the breeding line up and to reserve a kid for 2016.
The dog side of the Rancho is called Ranchodutchie. The Dutch Shepherd is a rare breed and we are blessed to have two Rough Coated Dutchies as part of our family.
The dairy goat side of the Rancho is called Ranchocabra. We raise Oberhasli, Alpine and Nigerian Dwarfs. We are learning fun and tasty ways to use the goat's milk including ice cream, cheeses and caramel. What fun!
